CALL IT QUITS ON THOSE SPLITS ENDS
REGULAR TRIMS
If you want to grow HEALTHY looking LONG hair, regular trims are a must. A trim every six to eight weeks will keep hair looking in good condition. Dry or damaged ends can be removed BEFORE they travel ALL the way up the hair shaft. Once this happens, MORE than a trim will be required to get the smooth finish you are after.
THERE ARE DIFFERENT TYPES OF SPLIT ENDS?
YES, check out the diagram below:
DON'T BE TOO ROUGH
Wet hair in particular can be quite suseptable to damage. Be gentle with your hair when combing or brushing it. Large tooth combs or brushes are great "detanglers" for wet hair.
DON'T TRIM AT HOME
Your kitchen scissors are NOT sharp enough to deliver a CLEAN cut to your hair. This could actually LEAD to MORE split ends and DAMAGE. The angle you CUT the hair can also have an impact. A professional hairstylist has the correct tools and technique for the job. Trust them.
FINALLY
The accessories you choose to use on your hair can also impact on the state of your hair. These days hair ties are specially designed to limit hair damage - so resist the urge to use that rubber band from the work desk.
