Longer lasting hair colour
There is nothing as lovely as a Fresh, Vibrant, Brand New hair colour.I have a few tips for you today on how to get the best longevity, so that the colour stays looking great just that little bit longer.
Your new colour will still be oxidising for 48 hours. If you can, try NOT to shampoo for this period of time. (This is the hardest tip of all for me to follow as I like to shampoo daily, but well worth the angst if you want the colour to last)
USE THE CORRECT SHAMPOO/CONDITIONER
Preserving colour is easy if you use the correct products on your hair. Remember: What you use should be the same PH as your hair and skin. I use the REDKEN products specifically for colour treated hair.
REGULAR WEEKLY TREATMENTS
Treatments will improve the condition of your hair for better colour hold. Wrap your head in gladwrap, put those feet up and watch a bit of telly for 20mins or so, then rinse out.
WEAR A HAT
If you plan on being out in the sun for extended periods of time, it is best to wear a hat. Doing so will not only protect your skin from the sun, but will prevent your colour from fading. This applies all year round, just like sunscreen application on your skin.
WATCH OUT FOR CHLORINE/SALT WATER
Redken have a great product called "Colour Extend Rich Recovery" that makes hair feel marvellous. A cheap trick, however, is to simply wet your hair first in clean water. Your hair is like a sponge, so if it is already wet, it won't soak up as much chlorine or salt.
OVER SERVICED HAIR
If your hair is NOT in good condition to start with it will not hold colour for long. At Hair Flair Bradbury your hair condition will be assessed before a colour application service. You may be advised to get your hair in a better state or you will be wasting your time & money.
